L-CKD 220 heavy-load industrial gear oil

Product overview

L-CKD 220 is a heavy-duty enclosed gear oil built on deeply refined high-viscosity-index base oil with an imported extreme-pressure, anti-wear, antioxidant, rust and anti-foam additive package. It is specified where the gear set is heavily loaded — tooth contact stress above 1100 MPa — and where the oil has to survive heat as well as load.

It meets the American references that most gearbox nameplates still cite: AGMA 250.04 for heavy-duty service and USS 224 for steel-mill gearing.

Approvals and conformity

• GB 5903 — Chinese national standard, L-CKD class.
• AGMA 250.04 and USS 224 performance.
• FZG failure load stage ≥ 11 on the gear rig.
• FLENDER approval BS-08-2217 applies to our PAO (Group IV) gear oil series in ISO VG 220–680 — ask for the PAO variant if the gearbox is still inside its warranty period.

Why the PAO option exists

A mineral L-CKD and a PAO gear oil can both meet AGMA 250.04, but they behave differently at temperature and in seal contact. The FLENDER dossier covers the PAO series — that is the version to specify when a gearbox manufacturer is going to ask for the approval document, or when sump temperature stays above 80 °C.
